YallaLift Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

YallaLift is a free fitness tracker made by the YallaLift team, launching first in Lebanon. It helps you log training and understand your progress. This policy covers the current local-data app, with Android launching first and iOS committed. It is published at yallalift.app/privacy.

Who is responsible

The YallaLift team is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: support@yallalift.app.

What stays on your device

YallaLift stores the following in its local database:

  • Workouts, dates, duration, exercise order, notes, sets, weights, repetitions, effort ratings, rest times, warm-ups, and completion status.
  • Routines, exercise choices, planned sets, targets, and notes.
  • Custom exercises and changes to exercise names, instructions, and notes.
  • Body-weight entries, dates, notes, and an optional goal weight.
  • Personal records and progress calculated from your training history.
  • Settings, including an optional display name, units, appearance, timer preferences, sounds, vibration, calendar preferences, reminder days and times, and whether crash reports are on.
  • Named gyms, their equipment and available weights, your selected gym, and the gym associated with a workout. These are details you enter, not GPS location tracking.
  • Internal record identifiers and creation and update times needed to organise this information.

You do not need an account. Your body weight, effort ratings and other training records stay on your device; they are never sent to us, and crash reports never include them. Your optional display name is a local preference, not a public profile. YallaLift uses your records on your device to display history, calculate progress, plan workouts, and provide timers and reminders.

What is sent off your device

YallaLift does not send your workout records, body weight, notes, display name, settings, or gym information to us or to any server. The current app has no cloud sync, accounts, advertisements, or analytics. It does not sell or share these records with third parties.

With crash reports off, which is the default, YallaLift makes no network calls: its fonts are bundled with the app, so nothing is downloaded at runtime. Links you tap, such as this policy, open in your browser.

Optional crash reports

You can choose to send crash reports to help fix problems. This is off until you turn on Send crash reports in Settings, and the change takes effect the next time you open the app. Sending reports is optional: if you leave it off, nothing is sent and the app works the same.

When it is on and the app crashes or stops responding, YallaLift sends a crash report to Sentry, the crash-reporting service we use. A crash report contains:

  • Crash logs: the error, where in the app’s code it happened, and the app’s recent technical steps before it.
  • Diagnostics: your phone’s model, operating system and version, language and time zone, screen, memory and storage details, and the app’s version.
  • An installation ID: a random identifier Sentry creates for this installation of the app, so repeated crashes on the same phone can be grouped. It is not your name, email, phone number, or advertising ID.

A crash report does not include your workouts, body weight, notes, display name, gym details, screenshots, or a recording of your screen. YallaLift turns off Sentry’s collection of personal information, screenshots, screen recording, and usage tracking. Like any internet connection, sending a report shows your phone’s IP address to Sentry; YallaLift’s Sentry project is set not to store IP addresses, and Sentry’s data scrubbing is on.

Sentry processes crash reports on our behalf as a service provider, in its EU data region (Frankfurt, Germany). Crash reports are used only to find and fix bugs. They are not sold, not shared with anyone else, and not used for advertising or tracking.

Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days, then deleted by Sentry.

To stop sending crash reports, turn off Send crash reports in Settings. From the next time you open the app, nothing more is sent, and the app deletes any crash reports still waiting on your phone, along with Sentry’s installation ID. To ask about reports already sent, contact us at the address below.

Your phone’s operating system may back up or transfer app data according to your device settings: on Android, YallaLift lets the system back up its workout database (nothing else) with your phone’s backup, and on iOS app data is part of your iCloud or computer backup. YallaLift has no app-managed cloud backup, and we cannot access or restore your local records. Device backups are separate from YallaLift’s planned cloud sync.

You can also export a backup file yourself from Settings (Your data, Export backup) and restore it later. The file is saved or shared wherever you choose; it holds your YallaLift records and is never sent to us.

This website

yallalift.app sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and uses no analytics, ads or trackers, so there is nothing to accept or decline. Our web host, Netlify, processes your IP address and basic request details (such as the page and your browser type) to deliver the pages and keep the site secure. If you write to us, we use your email only to reply.

Notifications and permissions

YallaLift asks for notification permission when you enable reminders or start a workout where the platform requires it. It uses local notifications for workout reminders and rest-timer feedback. Android uses a foreground service to show an active workout, rest countdown, and set controls while the app is in the background. The iOS implementation schedules a local rest-complete notification.

The app reads your device’s time zone to schedule reminders. This does not use GPS. Notifications can show exercise names, weights, repetitions, and set information on your lock screen. You can manage notification permission and lock-screen previews in your phone’s settings, and turn workout reminders off in YallaLift. Denying notifications does not prevent logging workouts, but can limit notification feedback.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your local records remain until you remove them or remove the app’s data. To remove all local YallaLift data on Android, open your phone’s Settings, find YallaLift under Apps, and choose Storage and Clear data or Clear storage. You can also uninstall YallaLift. On iOS, use Delete App; offloading the app keeps its data. Menu names vary by phone.

These actions remove the app’s local data. They do not remove a device backup or a backup file you exported, and restoring either may restore records. Manage those through your device, backup provider or files. Without a backup, deleting app data permanently erases your history. There is no account to delete and no server copy that we can delete or recover for you.

The current database does not add app-level database encryption. Protect your phone with its security controls, and review notification previews if others can see your screen.

Your rights

You can ask whether we hold any data about you, get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. The only data we can hold is crash reports you chose to send; they carry no name, so tell us roughly when the app crashed and your phone model so we can find them. Write to support@yallalift.app and you will get a reply within 10 days. You can also go to the competent Lebanese courts. Your records on your phone are yours to change or delete at any time in the app.

Children

YallaLift is for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 18, use YallaLift with the permission of a parent or guardian. The app does not ask for a date of birth or verify age, and it collects no information from anyone beyond the opt-in crash reports described above. A parent or guardian can remove local records using the steps above.

Changes to this policy

When YallaLift’s data practices change, this policy will be updated with a new date and made available through the app and store listing. Any notices or permissions required for new practices will be provided before those practices begin.

Future changes

Cloud sync, and later purchases and a premium tier, are planned. They are not part of the current app. Each will require an updated privacy policy before it ships, covering any accounts, providers, transmitted data, retention, deletion, and purchase handling. Other future features that send data off the device will also require a review before release.
